Loretta Ruth Stamps Miller, 85, of Florence, Colorado, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at her daughter’s residence in Hot Springs, Virginia.

She was born February 21, 1939, in Alamosa, Colorado, the daughter of the late Carl Lee Stamps and Norma Christensen Stamps. She was married to the late Johnie William Miller who preceded her in death on March 9, 2024.

Ruth was a domestic engineer. She was an avid artist who made beautiful handmade quilts. She enjoyed making ceramics and stained glass and lovely paintings. When her children were young, she was a girl scout leader for many, many years. She was a member of several quilting clubs over the years, as well as the Royal Gorge Square Dance Club where she had the privilege of dancing on the Royal Gorge Bridge, America’s highest suspension bridge.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and surrogate mother to many.

She was the oldest of 12 children, preceded in death by 2 siblings and survived by 9 siblings.

She is survived by four children, David Miller & Penny Ponder of Vancouver, Washington, Vicki Miller of Florence, Colorado, Sheri Cerise & husband Mike of Florence, and Debi Lowry & husband Jeff of Hot Springs; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, which includes her Virginia family of grandchildren Danyelle Lowry Muller and husband Daniel of Hot Springs, Chelsi Plecker & husband  Travis of Millboro; great grandchildren,  Kayden Lowry, Owen Muller, Riley, Olivia, and Madalynn Plecker; in-laws, Curtis and Dorothy Lowry of Hot Springs.

A memorial service will be held in Colorado at a later date.
