Gladys Virginia Beard Lindsay Jackson, 98, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at The Springs Nursing Center.

She was born June 21, 1917 in Bath County, the daughter of the late Walter Ledgewood Beard and Georgia Rosetta Pritt Beard.

Gladys was a graduate of Valley High School, and was employed at the Homestead Hotel for 37 years as a florist and secretary.

She was a member of the Methodist faith.

Gladys is survived by her step-daughter: Evelyn Hay of Prichard, West Virginia; nieces: Diana Bellman & husband James of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Evelyn Beard of Covington, Virginia; nephews: Richard Mines & wife Dreama of Macon, Georgia, Walter Beard & wife Bertha of Alabaster, Alabama; and numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Arthur Lindsay and Theodore Jackson; 4 sisters: Mary Mines, Frances Campbell, Jackie Fry and Ester Bostic; 2 bothers: Abram Beard and Walter B. Beard, and a step-daughter: Ethel Kay.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Warm Springs Cemetery with Rev. Bill Gram officiating.

There will be no formal visitation but friends may call at the funeral home at any time.
