Sharon Kay Carpenter Harvey, 71, of Hot Springs, Virginia and formerly of Monterey, VA, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 at her residence.
She was born March 8, 1949 in Bel Air, Maryland, the daughter of the late Woodrow Herbert Carpenter and Helen Gay Williams Carpenter.
Mrs. Harvey was a licensed daycare provider in Monterey before working as a CNA and moving to Bath County to care for her mother for 16 years until Helen’s death.
She attended Eden United Methodist Church, Star Bolar United Methodist Church and Highland Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors, and her grandchildren and great grandchild were her life’s greatest joy.
Sharon is survived by her three daughters, Tammy Ryder & husband Charles, Jr. of Hot Springs, Pamela Ugan & husband Steven of Atlanta, Georgia, Amanda Harvey & partner Lindsey Wolf of Bristol, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Devin, Dillon, Darin, and Dawson Ryder, Keelin and Hayden Medved, and Luke Doherty; one great grandchild, Gabriel Ryder; a brother, Donnie Carpenter & partner Gloria Robbins of Ocala, Florida; a sister, Janice Lockhart & partner Bill Restivo of Florida and Canada; and companion and caregiver, Clinton Burks of Hot Springs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Carpenter.
Due to health concerns, a private family graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the Warm Springs Cemetery with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date once the current health situation has ended.

So sorry for your loss. Sharon was a lovely lady. I will always remember the good times we had together. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be missed.
She was always smiling as I’m sure she was when she met Jesus face to face!!! So very sorry for your loss!! May God wrap his loving arms around you all and give you peace and comfort!!!
