Agnes Marie Callahan, 86, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Callahan was born August 25, 1925 in Washington County, Virginia, the daughter of Mathel and Lannie Huffman Blevins. On February 22, 1946, she married John S. Callahan. She was a caregiver, homemaker, and was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Moseley, Virginia. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved flowers and was especially fond of roses.
In addition to her husband of 65 years, she is survived by her children, Frances Louise Ailstock of Moseley, Virginia; Elizabeth Ann Ailstock of Hot Springs, Virginia; and Imalee Rogers of Bacova, Virginia; two brothers, Harvey Blevins of Glade Springs, Virginia; and Cecil Blevins of Dublin, Virginia; three sisters, Irene Porter of Wytheville, Virginia; Betty Blevins of Roanoke, Virginia; and Barbara Blevins of Bland County, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Lynn Rogers; a great grandchild, Angel Ailstock; a brother; and a sister.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Ellison officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the Church.
