Johanna M. Downey, 72, of Staunton, Virginia died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mrs. Downey was born on October 10, 1940 in Boxtel, Holland to Marinius & Marie Vostenbosch. She married James Leonard Downey on April 20, 1962. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the hearts of many friends and loved ones. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Downey of Staunton; a son, Jimmy Downey & wife Cindy of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; and three grandchildren, Steven Downey & wife Sarah of Craigsville, Virginia, Christopher Downey, and Joshua Downey, both of Stuarts Draft; and a mother-in-law, Margie Mae Downey of Staunton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Claude Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Craigsville Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
