Caroll L. McElwee, 74, of 119 Mountain Ave., Hot Springs, Virginia died Thursday, July 03, 2014 at Bath Community Hospital, Hot Springs, Virginia.
She was born March 17, 1940 in Bacova, Virginia, the daughter of the late Lester Layton and Matanna Dykes Layton.
Mrs. McElwee retired from the Bath County Public School System where she worked as a preschool teacher. She was a member of Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church and enjoyed scrapbooking, knitting and reading. She was a loving wife & mother.
She is survived by a son, Timothy McElwee of Hot Springs; a brother-in-law & sister-in-law, B.G. & Rachel McElwee of Hot Springs; and an aunt, Regina Harmon of Bastain, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Stack” McElwee on May 1, 1992; and a daughter, Torrie Lynn McElwee on July 18, 1991
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2014 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery.
