Marie T. Ballard, 82, of Alexandria, Virginia died Friday, October 31, 2014 at Manor Care of Alexandria.

She was born January 9, 1932 in Bath County, the daughter of the late Haller Thomas and Ollie Daniels.

Marie was employed as a registered nurse with Alexandria Hospital.

She was a member of Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church, which her father helped build, and a loving mother who cared for her children more than anything in the world.

Marie is survived by her two sons, Thomas Ballard and wife Kathy of Howell, Michigan, and Edward Ballard and wife Juntima of Alexandria, VA; and her brother; Dr. Carl Thomas of Lewisburg, West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Ballard, and her brother Mosby Thomas.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014.
