Arthur “Artie” Randall Barnes, 75, of Warm Springs, Virginia passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Springs Nursing Home, in Hot Springs, Virginia.

He was born August 7, 1950 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, the son of the late Calvin Barnes and Margaret Dunn Barnes.

Artie was a retired heavy equipment operator for the civil service for over 17 years in the Virginia Beach area. He moved to the mountains and retired from Cambata Industries after 20 years. Artie then became a farmer on Edward Cook Farm in Mountain Grove, Virginia. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army.

Artie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved Cape Hatteras, The Outer Banks, and the beach, as well as the mountains around Bath County. Artie had a deep passion for music of all kinds. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Artie is survived by his daughter, Aislyn Marisa Hughes of Warm Springs, Virginia; his stepdaughter, April Webb of North Carolina; a grandson, Breydon Keith Dorsey; great-grandchildren, Adellynn and Keith Avery; brothers, Tommy Barnes of Belhaven, North Carolina, Larry Barnes and wife Veronika of Roanoke, Virginia, Bobby Barnes and wife Debbie of Louisiana; a special friend, Edna Seley, and many nieces and nephews

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin, Jimmy, and Teddy Barnes, and stepgranddaughter Ali Wolfe.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Mountain Grove Fire House with John Young officiating. Interment will be in Mountain Grove.

The family will receive friends following the service.
