Charles Arrington Martin, 85, of 317 Horse Mountain View, Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the VA Center in Salem, Virginia.
He was born July 25, 1927 in Arrington, Virginia, the son of the late Arthur P. Martin and Sally Morris Martin.
Mr. Martin was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII.
Mr. Martin was a retired truck driver. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.
He is survived by five children, Richard Martin & wife Wanda of Covington, Virginia, Phillip Martin & wife Drema of Hot Springs, Virginia, Gladys Martin of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, Bill Martin of Olivet, Michigan and Connie Martin of Covington, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
In addition to his parents Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur P. Martin, Jr.
A private funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 3 at the home of Connie Martin, 317 Horse Mountain View, Covington from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Joy Brackman Weeks, 2212 Dressler Dr., Covington, Virginia 24426.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Martin family in your hours of sorrow. I met Charlie at Bacova Guild many years ago and he always spoke when we met no matter where we were. He will be missed by many.
