Earnest Wayland Campbell, 75, of 23 McCutcheon School Lane, Goshen, Virginia, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia on June 21, 1937, to the late Silas & Frances Bowling Campbell. Earnest retired after many years of service with C & O Railroad. He was a carpenter, brick mason, farmer of fifty years, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his special friend and companion, Susan Sams of Goshen; a daughter, Sharon Henderson of Stuarts Draft; two sons, Darrell Campbell of Churchville, and Forrest Campbell of Tennessee; four brothers, Claude Campbell of Roanoke, Joe Campbell of Stuarts Draft, Carl Campbell of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Emmett Campbell of Waynesboro; a sister, Marie Rowe of Staunton; seven grandchildren; a great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Silas, Richard, James and Herbert Campbell; and a sister, Ruby Thompson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Little River Church of the Brethren in Goshen, with John Coffman officiating. Burial will follow at the Little River Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Henke, Dorsey Dill, Jerry Campbell, Larry Sink, Troy Wilcher, Lee Wilcher, Bernie McClanahan and Darryl Stone.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Craigsville Funeral Home.
