Evelyn Hildreth Brinkley Ryder, 89, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at The Springs Nursing Center.

She was born May 21, 1925 in Millboro, Virginia, the daughter of the late Howard H. Brinkley and Cora Hodge Brinkley.

Evelyn was previously employed at the Homestead Resort in the housekeeping department.

She was a member of Hot Springs Presbyterian Church. She loved life with her many close friends and enjoyed playing cards.

Evelyn is survived by her special friends & caregivers: Paul & Nancy Clark, Janet Harvey, Sharon Puffenbarger, Phillip & Peggy Layman and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Ryder; 3 brothers, Durwood, Norman & Winford Brinkley; and 3 sisters, Genieve Clark, Juanita Loan and Frances L. “Tootie” Back.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday April 4, 2015 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Conrad officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl McCune, Charlie Layman, Carl Clark, Mark Clark, Jody Clark, Charles Clark

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the services.
