Jackie Lynn Rucker Ottey, 60, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Saturday, June 08, 2024, at her residence.
She was born August 19, 1963, in Hot Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Curtis Rucker, Sr. and Eva Marie Keyser Rucker.
Jackie was a Chef at the Omni Homestead Resort. It was here that she met her husband Roderick Christopher Ottey. They were married on September 14, 2013, and shared 11 beautiful years together.
Jackie loved to go camping and spend time with her grandchildren. They were one of her greatest joys. She enjoyed shopping and swimming. Her hobby was “design on a dime”, frequently requesting the help of her children, Ryan and Heather to get it done! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
In addition to her husband, Roderick, she is survived by two children, Ryan William Ryder & Fiancé Tabitha Jack of Hot Springs, Heather Elaine Ryder of Millboro, Virginia; stepchildren, Sir Desmond Hunter Christopher Ottey and Cyaní Sarai Ottey both of Covington, Virginia; grandchildren, Hunter Ryder & girlfriend Kelsie Morris of Hot Springs, Nathan Hunt, Brenden Ryder, Reagan Ryder all of Hot Springs, Rosser Dewayne Ryder of Millboro; two brothers, John “Johnnie” Curtis Rucker, Jr. & wife Terry of New Hampshire, Teddy Lee Rucker & wife Gloria of Hot Springs; a sister, Donna Marie Weaver & husband Robbie of Hot Springs; and Nieces and Nephews, Mackenzie Lauren Weaver of Richmond, Virginia, Taylor Nichole Weaver of Hot Springs, Johanna “Jodi” Mae Rucker of Burnsville, Virginia, and Charles William Rucker of Burnsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Radcliffe Vernon who passed away November 10, 2007, a special aunt, Phyllis Keyser Rucker, and a nephew, Aaron Rucker.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Gram, officiating; assisted by Pastor Joanna Ottey Birchett, Pastor Shannon McCubbins, Pastor Joyce Ryder, and Ms. Taylor Weaver. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Ryder, Rosser Ryder, Darrell McCulley, Danny Lindsay, Ryan Ailstock, & Corey Clark.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
