Kay Loan Taylor, 73, of 490 High Country Road, Millboro, Virginia passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.
She was born April 18, 1939 in Warm Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles Huston Loan and Margaret Robinson Loan.
On October 17, 1958 she married Franklin Lee Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was a retired Deputy Sheriff with the Bath County Sheriff’s Department. She held numerous positions in her life including working for the FBI in Washington DC and a former magistrate for Bath County, Virginia.
Mrs. Taylor was a 1957 graduate and Valedictorian of Millboro High School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Millboro, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #24 and the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association. She was a hunter education instructor for the Virginia Game Commissions and a former resident of Stuart’s Draft, Virginia
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Lee Taylor, of Millboro; two children Connie Taylor & son-in-law, Denny Ray Simmons of Herndon, Virginia, and Thomas Wayne Taylor of Millboro; and an uncle, Claude Loan of Iron Gate, Virginia; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Oakie Loan and a sister, Colin Marie Loan.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Reverend John Green officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in Millboro. Pallbearers will be The Bath County Sheriff’s Department. Honorary Pallbearers will be former members of the Sheriff’s Department – James Bryant, Larry Norfleet, Tommy Black, Rick Armstrong and Timmy Dunnagan; Bill Tuttle, Ernie Matheny, Ernie Townshend & Todd Fry.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McLaughlin and Young Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
