Nancy Jeanette Carpenter Hawks, 89, of Ashwood Drive, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs, Virginia.

She was born October 9, 1935, in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late Eddie Harper Carpenter and Ollie Gay Wolfe Carpenter. In 1954 she married Robert Duane Hawks who preceded her in death on September 23, 2023.

Mrs. Hawks worked for Graves Humphrey in the packaging department. She enjoyed gardening and working outside. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister.

She is survived by two children, Roger Duane Hawks of Floyd, Virginia, Steven Mitchell Hawks and wife Brenda of Roanoke; two brothers, Donald Carpenter and wife Peggy of Hot Springs, James Carpenter and wife Darlene of Hot Springs; & two sisters, Ruby Lowry of Hardy, Virginia, Joyce Smith of Hot Springs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Anthony “Tony” Hawks; brothers & sisters, Gloria Spitler, Charlotte Campbell, Gene Carpenter, Willy Carpenter, Bedford Carpenter, and Clifton Carpenter.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Warm Springs Cemetery with John Young officiating.
