Patricia Lee McLaughlin, 76, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Monday, January 01, 2018 at her residence.
She was born January 11, 1941 in Fayetteville, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Gilpin Schoolcraft and Elva Mae Auldridge Schoolcraft.
She was married to the late James Lee McLaughlin who preceded her in death on October 24, 1999.
She was a homemaker & mother. She worked in the cafeteria at Bath County High School and did some housekeeping for several families in Bath County.
In her earlier years, Patricia attended the Warm Springs Presbyterian Church, and later attended Life Line Ministries. She loved to listen to music especially Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Elvis. She was a member of the Presbyterian Circle Group. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by three children, Jeanie Lynne McLaughlin of Goodview, Virginia, Vickie Lee Viars & husband Eddie of Max Meadows, Virginia and Melissa Lynne McLaughlin of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Glen Allen Swearengin of Roanoke, Virginia and Nick Brandon Swearengin of Max Meadows; two great grandchildren, Jackson Haze Swearengin and Cara Destiny Swearengin; three sisters, Frances Ellen Streets of Elkins, West Virginia, Gladys Mae Barrett and Goldie Maxine Shearer both of Marlinton, West Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and her home health care nurse, Jenny Ruth Anderson, to whom the family owes a great deal of gratitude for her kindness. Jenny always went above and beyond her duties in providing excellent care for Patricia. The family would also like to thank Americare Plus for the wonderful service they provided to their loved one.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Gilpin Schoolcraft; 3 sisters, Mary Schoolcraft, Matilda Ann Fry and Marie Jane Pennington.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Vickie Viars officiating. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Viars, Glen Allen Swearengin, Phillip Smith, Tom Durham, Vernon Pole McLaughlin and Nick Brandon Swearengin.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Friday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
She did not have a sister Martha. Her sister was Marie Jane Schoolcraft Pennington.
Patty and I talked on face time when she felt like it. I Loved her and will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her beautiful daughters.
