Phillip Lee Johnson, 50, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs.

He was born September 13, 1973, in Hot Springs, the son of Joyce Ann Gwin Johnson and the late Edward “Eddie” Lee Johnson.

Phillip was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, collecting anything that pertained to the Cowboys. He was their #1 fan. He also collected Power Ranger and Duck Dynasty memorabilia. He enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling and was thrilled to go watch the matches in person. Christmas was a highlight for Phillip. He rejoiced in the season and couldn’t wait to start watching Hallmark movies in July! He was a loving son and nephew. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat, “Boogie”.

He is survived by his dedicated mother who tirelessly cared for him his entire life, Joyce Johnson of Hot Springs; his aunts and uncles, Darlene Pritt and husband Bo (Bimbo) of Hot Springs, Glenna Haynes of Covington, Virginia, Richard Gwin and wife Linda of Roanoke, Virginia, Debbie Gwin of Pompano Beach, Florida, Judy Thacker and husband Dale of Roanoke; and numerous cousins.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to all of his caregivers, nurses, hospital staff, and rescue squad personnel who took such good care of Phillip.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his Pop Pop Gwin and Granny Sadie, and grandparents, June and Raymond Johnson.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor David George, officiating; and Bill Gram, assisting. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home to help with the final expenses.
