Ruby Frances Thompson, 87, of Goshen, Virginia, died Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012 at Friendship Manor Retirement Home in Roanoke.
She was born July 7, 1925 in Rockbridge County to the late Silas & Frances Bowling Campbell. She was married to Willie Marion Thompson, who preceded her in death on August 11, 1990. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant; prior to that, she was a seamstress for Jane Colby. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Goshen Baptist Church where she sang with the choir and was a member of the Women’s Group. She enjoyed beautiful flowers, crocheting, making dolls, and working in the garden.
She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Ann Craft and husband John of Staunton, Virginia; Sandra Fay Heizer & husband Harold of Greenville, Virginia; Willie Frances Watkins & husband Tom of Vinton, Virginia; and Betty Gail Hudson of Ocala, Florida; a son, Anthony William Thompson of Lexington, Virginia; a sister, Marie Rowe of Staunton; five brothers, Joe Campbell & wife Janet of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; Carl Campbell & wife Jean of Indianapolis, Indiana; Ernest Campbell of Craigsville, Virginia; Emmett Campbell of Dooms, Virginia; and Claude Campbell & wife Doris of Roanoke, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Betty Campbell of Staunton; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bob Hudson; four brothers, Richard, James, Silas, & Herbert Campbell; four sisters-in-law, Catherine, Marion, Ruth, & Aileen Campbell; a brother-in-law, John Rowe; and father-in-law & mother-in-law, Herbert & Jettie Thompson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2012 at Goshen Baptist Church in Goshen, Virginia and will be officiated by Pastors Scott Reese and Tyler Clem. Burial will follow at the Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Campbell, Jeff Brooks, John Wayne Rowe, Matthew Craft, Mark Craft and Michael Craft. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hicks and John Alden Craft.

So sorry to hear about Ms Thompson. She was a great woman and will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of great loss.
