Pic2Virginia Thomas Faurote, 96, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs, Virginia.
She was born March 2, 1922 in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late Frank Brown Thomas and Laura Mae Mines Thomas.
She was employed as a Housekeeper for the Ellis family in Hot Springs for more than 60 years.
She was a member of Healing Springs Baptist Church. She was a fabulous cook who was famous for her lemon meringue pie. She loved her dogs, especially her Pugs.
She was married to the late Charles W Faurote.
She is survived by a niece, Lettie Mae Cauley & husband Thorton of Hot Springs, Virginia; nephews, William Harold Peery and Smokey Stover both of Hot Springs; great nieces, Renea Lindsay & Karen Carter who were her care givers; numerous great nieces and great nephews; special friends, Karen Ellis & Dr. Jay Kain of Hot Springs; Her dog, Lucky.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Faurote and Olivia Peery. a nephew, Clarence Peery; and nieces Patricia Stover and Betty Bond.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday April 20, 2018 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Gilliand officiating. Interment will be in Union Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Carter, Justin Lindsay, Alex Lindsay, David Lindsay, Billy Baldwin and Dr. Jay Kain. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Fry, Thorton Cauley, Harold Peery, George Wolfe.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Springs Nursing Center, P.O. Drawer 1, Hot Springs, Virginia 24445 or Bath County Meals on Wheels, Make check payable to Valley Program for Aging Services, P.O. Box 817, Waynesboro, Virginia 22980.

  1. Always enjoyed seeing Mrs. Faurote the few times I returned to the Baptist Church. Definitely a memory from growing up in Healing Springs. Another Bath County icon has passed. Hugs to all.

    • Virginia worked with my mom whose name was also Virgina for the Ellis’s for years. They were close and good friends. Virginia was well liked and she will be sadly missed. Prayers.
