Rosemary Lemon Webb made her transition at home in Hot Springs, VA on Friday, January 20, 2012, after an extended illness. She was born June 30, 1923, daughter of the late Warren and Grace Lemon. Six of her siblings preceded her in death, Oscar Levi (Tim), Earl Gleason, Odis Frasier, and Harold Furlough, Marjorie Lemon Randall and Virginia Lemon Davis. After graduation from Watson High School in Covington, VA, Rosemary began working at the Homestead Hotel in Hot Springs, where she met and married the late Albert Webb, Jr.; one daughter, Gail (Johanna) Eulonda was born of that union.
Rosemary was a devoted and loving mother, who wanted only the best for her daughter; she was supportive of all her daughter’s educational aspirations and endeavors, and was extremely proud of Gail’s (Johanna) accomplishments. Rosemary was devoted to her family, and relished attending the Lemon Family Reunions.
She joined the First Baptist Church in Covington, VA where she was baptized at an early age. In 1987, Rosemary was invited to join the Church of Christ in Covington, which offered a great source of strength; she participated in and savored the many activities in church worship.
Rosemary retired in 1993 from the Homestead after 40 years of service. She then lived her life to the fullest, which she shared with her cousin, Marion “Polly” Jackson, devoting time to the church and her close-knit family. She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Johanna Webb Hargreaves), three sisters, Madeline Lemon Wilson of Washington, DC; Ellen Doris Lemon Hairston of Detroit, Michigan, and Joan Paige Lemon Lay of Washington, DC., many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 12 noon. The family will recieve friends one hour prior to services, from 11:00 – 12:00.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Mountain Regional Hospice, 537 Main Street, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
The interment will take place at the Green Hill Cemetery in a private service at a later date.
