Eloise Elizabeth Allen Taylor, 99, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Brian Center Rehabilitation & Nursing Care in Low Moor, Virginia.

She was born October 3, 1924, in Alleghany County, Virginia, the daughter of the late
Therollia Allen who passed shortly after her birth. She was adopted at birth by Mitchell Allen and Maide Henry Allen.

She was employed as a storekeeper for Allen’s Community Store and was a beautician. In later years she was a Home Health Nursing Assistant.

Eloise was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Missionary Society, taught Sunday School, and was the “Mother of the Church”. She sang in the church choir and was a member of “United Voices” community choir. It is said that she had one of the loveliest soprano voices that you would ever want to hear. She was a member of the Janie Porter Barrett Club and the “Just Us Girls Club”. Eloise was a loving friend to all.

She was married to the late Edward Cornelius Taylor who preceded him in death on June 23, 1983.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Dominique, Jeannetta, Jamie, Colleen, Rosemarie, Tawanna, Gary, Wayne, Justin, Ronnie, Ronaldo, and Knowledge; special friends and caregivers, Annabelle Knight, Nancy Smothers, Perlista Henry, and Brenda Braxton; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by two foster daughters, Patricia Haynes who preceded her in death on June 1, 2019 and Drucilla “Bunny” Allen Silvira in 2021.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Revered W. Ed Mansfield officiating. Interment will be in Pinehurst Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Oscar Beale, Danny Cardwell, Wayne Johnson, Gary Haynes, Ronnie McCummings, Ronaldo McCummings, and Justin Allen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rudy Cardwell, and Hall Owens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.  at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 329, Hot Springs Virginia, 24445.
