Agnes Brinkley Pursley, 83, of Bacova, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs.

She was born January 18, 1931 in Millboro, Virginia, the daughter of the late Cletis W. Brinkley and Lettie Stinespring Brinkley.

Mrs. Brinkley was a housewife. She was a member of Warm Springs Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend to all. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She was married to the late Curtis E. “Abe” Pursley who preceded her in death on July 30, 2012.

She is survived by two children, Vicki Grutter of Bacova, Edward Lee Pursley & wife Mendy of Weyers Cave, Virginia; 3 grandchildren, David Pursley and Fiancé Sarah Tavernaris, Briana Pursley and Kaleb Pursley; a sister, Shirley Wiseman of Staunton, Virginia; a brother, Blair Brinkley & wife Linda of Puyallup, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters, Mondo Brinkley, Cletis “June” Brinkley, Ava Cash, Nancy Schoenthaler, Lillian Searson, Trimble Brinkley and Edmonia Loan.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Warm Springs Presbyterian Church with Reverend Charles Reed officiating. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1-2:00 p.m. at the church.

  3. I am sorry to hear of Agnes passing. She was a wonderful lady who always had a smile on her face and she and Abe were two great friends I always enjoyed talking to. She and Abe will be missed by so many who had the opportunity to know them. My thoughts and prayers are with her many friends and family.
