Barbara Garber Mayse, 68, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia died Monday, December 02, 2013 at Augusta Nursing & Rehab.

She was born October 26, 1945 in Covington, Virginia, the daughter of Nancy Bryant Garber Arritt and the late Roy Garber. She was married to the John Francis Mayse, Jr.

She was retired registered nurse. Mrs. Mayse was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her mother, Nancy Arritt & step father Roy U. “Buck” Arritt of Covington, her husband of 39 years, John Francis Mayse, Jr. whom she married April 13, 1974; a daughter, Nancy Amanda “Mandy” Shepherd & husband Thomas of Fishersville, Virginia; two grandchildren, Cullen & Abigail Shepherd of Fishersville; a sister, Sandra Wood & husband Bruce of Covington; a nephew, Brad Wood of Covington.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Righter Mayse.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Woodland Church in Millboro with Reverend John Bieler officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following services in the church social hall.
