Beckner John Chaplin, Sr., 64, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Thursday, July 07, 2016 at the Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs.

He was born November 12, 1951 in Hot Springs, the son of the late Harry Duncan Chaplin, Sr. and Madeline Elizabeth Cummings Chaplin.

He was employed in the Housing Department at the Homestead Resort.

He was and avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.

He is survived two children, Misty Chaplin of Danville, Virginia and Beckner “B.J.” Chaplin of Hot Springs; five brothers, Eric Chaplin of New Hampshire, Steven Chaplin & wife Debbie of Hot Springs, Chappie Chaplin & wife Cathy of Afton, Virginia, John Chaplin & wife Deseray of Bacova, Virginia, Loren Chaplin of Bacova; a sister, Mary Ellen Hupman & husband Roger of Hot Springs; special friend, Hansel Ryder; 4 grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Union Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Springs Nursing Center, Activity Fund, P.O. Drawer I, Hot Springs, Virginia 24445.

  1. To the Chaplin Family, I am so sorry to hear of Beckners death! We went to Valley High School in the late 60s.
