ShriverHOT SPRINGS— Beverley R. Shriver, Jr., 81, of 1467 Shady Lane “Wilcuma”, Hot Springs, Virginia died Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs, Virginia.
He was born November 10, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Beverley R. Shriver, Sr. and Elizabeth Armstrong Shriver.
Mr. Shriver was an independent insurance agent; prior to that he worked for Thompson Paint Company.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Shriver was a founding member of the Christ Anglican Church in Hot Springs. He was an avid amateur golfer; and a civil war historian who was active in civil war battlefield preservation. He loved hockey & football and was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Alden S. Shriver of Hot Springs whom he married on December 4, 1954; a daughter, Anne S. Wagner & husband Gregory of Upper St. Clair, PA; two sons, Beverley R. Shriver III & wife Erin of Sewickley, PA and Robert S. Shriver & wife Connie of Pittsboro, NC; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Warm Springs Cemetery with Reverend C. Thomas McHenry officiating. Friends may call anytime at Wilcuma.
