Blanche Hale Hoover Hodge, 94, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs, Virginia.

She was born August 7, 1923 in Bath County, Virginia, the daughter of the late George Price Hoover and Laura Maude Brinkley Hoover.

Mrs. Hodge was a housewife. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Williamsville Presbyterian Church; she attended the Hot Springs Presbyterian Church. At a very early age, Blanche gave her heart to the Lord and received His blessings throughout her whole life.

On October 7, 1947 she married Virgle Eikle Hodge who preceded her in death on November 19, 1999.

She is survived by a grandson, Milton Lee Deeds of Millboro, Virginia; a brother, Paul Hoover of Covington, Virginia; a sister, Ruth Hoover Locklear of North Carolina; a great niece, Tara Stull of Frederick, Maryland; a great nephew, Richard Swearengin of Las Vegas, Nevada; a special granddaughter, Elizabeth Avis of Millboro; a special great grandson, Tatum Keyser of Millboro.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Hodge Deeds; four sisters, Ollie McManamay, Pauline Turner, Emma Lee Matthews, Annie Grace Hoover; two nieces, Shirley Swearengin, Joyce McManamay.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Williamsville Presbyterian Church with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will be in McClintic Cemetery in Williamsville, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Brian Puhle, Ronnie Hodge, Billy Webb, Stephen Hodge, Charles Keyser, Nicholas Puffenbarger and Tom McRoberts. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Reynolds and Jeff Fairburn.

Memorial contributions may be made to McClintic Cemetery, c/o Robert Lee Marshall, 13039 Towerhill Road, Williamsville, Virginia 24487.

  1. Blanche was a loving and caring person, I am proud to say she was my aunt. I have fond memories of her taking me fishing as a young boy in Williamsville on the Wallace farm. She will be missed by many.

  2. Blanche was a great Aunt . Her and Virgle were like a second set of grandparents to me. Watching me when my dad was busy with work. Always knew she would bake my favorite cake on my birthday. Enjoyed going on walks with Blanche and spending time with her and Virgle. Will hold all my memories close. Rest in peace. Tara H Stull
