Bobby Kenneth Fry, 90, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 02, 2025, at LewisGale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor, Virginia.

He was born August 17, 1935, in Bath County, Virginia, the son of the late Pleas Alexander Fry and Sadie Gertrude Irvin Fry.

He was married to Eleanor “Cookie” Conner Fry, his wife of 63 years whom he married on November 20, 1961. She preceded him in death on August 30th, just 3 days prior to his death.

Bobby served as the golf pro at the Homestead Resort with over 37 years of service. He is the past champion of Bath County Open and the Caddy Tournament. In 1963, he became the first golf pro for the Lower Cascades Golf Club, serving in that position for 35 years. No one knew that course better. During that stretch he had numerous under par rounds, including a stretch of 21 straight, was a favored partner of Sam Snead, and has three career hole-in-ones. He shot a 29 and a 28, including eight straight 3s, on the front nine and his best score ever was a 62.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War.

He was a member of Hot Springs Presbyterian Church where he was a faithful and dedicated member. He was a volunteer with Bath County Meals on Wheels. Bobby graduated from Valley High School where he starred in football, baseball, and golf for the Hornets in the 1950’s. An avid Bath County High School sports fan, he could be seen at various events throughout the year. Bobby was inducted into the Bath County High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2023, recognizing his accomplishments in golf. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and was a member of the Fort Lewis Hunt Club. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to all.

He is survived by two children, Kenneth Jordan Fry & wife Patricia and Kipp Conner Fry all of Hot Springs; a brother, Basil Fry & wife Aldene of Hot Springs, and a sister, Marie “TD” Cleek of Hot Springs.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Fry, Gene Fry, Pleas June Fry; and three sisters, Phyllis Sullivan, Ann Coleman, and Mildred “Sid” Kenney.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Hot Springs Presbyterian Church with Reverend Scott Conrad officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the church.
