Lida D. Brinkley, 93, of 128 Wilkinson Ave., Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs.
She was born August 8, 1919 in Bath County, the daughter of the late Martin P. Dannels and Lavina Rowe Dannels. She was married to the late Robert Brinkley, who preceded her in death on April 6, 1981.
She was retired from the Homestead Resort where she worked as the early morning inspector for the housekeeping department.
She was a member of the Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and known to many as “Nannie”.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Phillips & husband Rocklynn of Hot Springs, grandchildren, Rocklynn Jay Phillips & wife Amy of Hot Springs, Kenneth Phillips of Hot Springs and Teresa Phillips of Hot Springs, great grandchildren, Justin, Cody, Alexis, Rocklynn and Nate; many special loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Brinkley was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Dannels and four sisters, Blanche Foster, Ollie Thomas, Clara Ford and Eva Ginger.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Warm Springs Cemetery with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating.
The family will receive friends any time at the home of Sandra & Rocky Phillips, 102 Wilkinson Ave., Hot Springs.
