Carl S. Campbell, 70, of Craigsville, Virginia, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville.
Carl was born on December 16, 1943 in Bath County, Virginia to the late Elmer and Georgia Campbell. He was a laborer of various fields and was a member of Valley Baptist Church in Craigsville. He loved to hunt and fish and always took great pride in his garden. Most of all, he was a loving father and grandfather who will always be remembered by his friends and loved ones.
He is survived by his special friend, Hazel Stokes of Craigsville; sons, John Stokes & wife Keyna of Goshen, and Jesse Stokes & girlfriend Ashley of Craigsville; brothers, Homer Campbell & wife Brenda of Churchville, Casper Campbell & wife Carol of Goshen, Glen Campbell & wife Kimberly of Covington and Emmett Campbell & wife Cathy of Brownsburg; sisters, Sue Patterson of Swoope, Frances Sprouse of Craigsville, Nelomia Campbell of Swoope, and Gloria Strickler & husband Tommy of Craigsville; grandchildren, Linda Pettry and Brayden Gates; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his cat, Taz.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Buzzy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Craigsville Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darren Gregory, Chris Morrison, Ricky Stokes, Davey Knight, Richard Fox, and Jeff Cook.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Craigsville Funeral Home and other times at the Stokes’ home, 66 Stokes Lane, Craigsville, Virginia.
