Carson J. Dean, 87, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at his son’s residence in Richmond. .
He was born October 11, 1926 in Bath County, the son of Grat Dean and Tempie Bell Stapleton Dean. He was married to Mabel “Sis” Gertrude Dean, his wife of 64 years whom he married on July 21, 1948. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2012.
Mr. Dean was retired from DuPont Corporation after 30 years of service. He later worked for the Nolde Company.
Mr. Dean was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served in Guam and the Philippines.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by 5 children, Carson Eugene Dean, Sr. & wife Jean of Richmond, Yvonne Crews & husband Randy of Ashland, Virginia, Johnny Dean & wife Janice of Louisa, Virginia, Wayne Dean of Richmond and Tammy Guardi & husband Tom of Fluvanna, Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Marvin “John” Dean of Ohio, Herbert Curtis Dean & wife Ann of Selma, Virginia; a sister, Gracie Liptrap of Warm Springs, Virginia; and a forever friend, Daniel Clough.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Callie Wilson, Myrtle Cauley, Beatrice Ryder and Ida Salyers; three brothers, Norvel “Doc” Dean, twin brothers, Troy “Dugan-Shorty” Dean and Roy Dean; and infant brother, Walter Dean.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at McLaughlin and Young Funeral Home with Mr. John Young officiating. Interment will be in Jacob Cleek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alexander Dean, Carson E. Dean, Jr., Daniel Dean, Eric Ramberg, Jeremy Schreffler and Mike McGowan, Jr.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
