Catherine Elizabeth Herche, 87 of Sykesville, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.  Born August 26, 1923 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harmon and Lucy Ellen Sheets Buzzard.  She was the wife of the late Henry David Herche. She had been a homemaker for most of her life.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Betty and Jim Smith of Westminster, daughter-in-law Kathy Herche, grandchildren Jesse Herche, Job Herche, Eric Crews, Heather Charlebois, Charity Smith and Nick Smith, and great grandchildren Max and Scarlett Crews.

She was predeceased by her son, Don Herche.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 1:30pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville with Rev. Mark Waddell officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Mountain Grove, Virginia. McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home will be handling the local arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
