Cecil Gilbert Blake, 84, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Tuesday, June 05, 2018 at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1933 in Alleghany County, Virginia, the son of the late William Theodore Blake and Alice Blanch Johnson Blake.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. Mr. Blake retired as a general contractor having worked throughout Alleghany & Bath County for many years.
He was a member of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church; a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Mr. Blake is survived by his wife of 61 years, whom he married on June 28, 1956, Dreama Dale King Blake of Hot Springs; three children, Deborah Quessenberry of Hot Springs, Teresa Morris & husband Ricky of Covington, Virginia and Timothy Blake & wife Amy of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Rebekah Burns & husband Austin and Isaac Blake all of Hot Springs; a great grandchild, Charlotte Ruth “Charlee” Burns of Hot Springs; a sister; Margie Leavine of Hot Springs.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jesse Quessenberry; 2 brothers, Pat & Billy Blake; 4 sisters, Mary Alice Kimberlin, Marian Blake, Bertie Lou Kershner, Becky Hancock .
A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Falling Spring Evangelical Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bill Gilliland officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW 1033 Curtis A. Smith Honor Guard. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the church.
