Delana “Dee” Mae Corbett Shaffier

Delana Mae Corbett Shaffier, 90, of 18151 Sam Snead Highway, Warm Springs, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 5, 1925 in Mustoe, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles Cleveland Corbett and Lottie Mae Shaffier Corbett.

She was married to the late Leroy Oscar Shaffier who preceded her in death on October 20, 1991. She was retired from the US Truck Company, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan where she worked for over 40 years. She was a member of Lifeline Ministries. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and reading. She was a loving wife and sister and the Matriarch of the family.

She is survived by four sisters, Mercedes “Virginia” Hicks of Surprise, Arizona, Dare Waybright of Greenwood, Virginia, Treva “Betsy” Rankin & husband Robert of Waynesboro, Virginia and Annalee Good of Grottoes, Virginia; a brother, Bert Corbett of Elyria, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Cletus Corbett; and a brother, Charles Cornelius Corbett.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Lifeline Ministries with Pastor Zach Royer and Reverend Frank Neff officiating. Interment will in Warm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 29th at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.

  1. So sorry to hear about Aunt Dee’s passing. She was a wonderful, kind woman and will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with our family as we face life without her. Be at peace, Aunt Dee, you’re together with Uncle Leroy now.
