Delbert Hall “Luke” Hite
Delbert Hall “Luke” Hite, 72, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his residence following a brief battle with lung cancer. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies.” (John 11:25) He was a member and trustee of Craigsville Southern Baptist Church
He was born November 13, 1939 the son of the late Melvin Hall and Mattie Lucille Holsinger Hite.
Prior to retirement, Delbert was a master electrician and worked in the electrical trade for 45 years. He was a 1957 graduate of Craigsville High School and had fond memories of his school days and many friends. He was a good athlete and played baseball and basketball. He continued to be a sports fan and followed various sports and teams. He stuck by his Redskins. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Rexrode Hite of Craigsville, Virginia; a daughter, Deborah Michelle Hite of Weyers Cave, Virginia; two stepsons, Joshua T. Eye and fiancé Judy Back of Fishersville, Virginia, David A. Eye and wife, Maria of Franklin, West Virginia; a sister, Elizabeth Burke of Goshen, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Ronald Colvin; three step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special furry companion, “Coalie”.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Reeves and Deanna Colvin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Craigsville Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Derry Norman officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Robertson, Vincent Doyle, Nelson Sours, Ronald Colvin, Richard Fox and Donald Minter.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Craigsville Funeral Home.
