Devany Branwen (April Dawn Thomas), 52, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
She was born January 19, 1973, in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late George Edison Thomas and Josephine Beulah Thomas.
She was employed at Prince Food Mart in Covington where she worked as a cashier. Prior to that she worked as a CNA at the Springs Nursing Center with 20 years of service.
She was sometimes referred to as a “spitfire” who loved her animals, especially her horses and dogs. An avid outdoorsman who loved to go camping and swimming she could often be found at Lake MooMaw. She was a loving mother, sister, and friend to all.
She is survived by a daughter, Kristin Rogers of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Aubrey Kirkland and Ryker Rogers both of Millboro, Virginia, and Nora Anderson of Lexington, Virginia; a sister, Loretta Thomas & wife Debbie Thomas of Covington, Virginia; her ex-husband who she remained close friends with, John Rogers of Hot Springs; her best friend, Natieya Smith of Covington; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Thomas.
A Celebration of her Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Zach Royer officiating.
