Donald Eugene Harris, 87, of Millboro, Virginia passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at his residence.

Donald was born March 9, 1936, in Burnsville, North Carolina, the son of the late Lee Harris and Flossie Thomas Harris.

He was employed by Richmond Kline Contractors for 47 years.

Donald was a very active member of Millboro Christian Church. He loved his church family and had many friends throughout the community. There was not an event or activity within the church or the community that he did not participate in or support. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His passion for hunting and the outdoors never wavered. He was extremely excited about getting his deer this hunting season.

Donald is survived by his children, Edythe Myree Fox and husband Michael of Goshen, Virginia, and Jeffery Doyle Harris and wife Sue of Sterling Park, Virginia; brother, Oscar Lindsey Harris and wife Cathy of Longs, South Carolina; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Clem Harris; a son, Douglas Harris; 6 brothers; and 4 sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Millboro Christian Church with Pastor Lloyd Via officiating. Interment will be in Millboro Christian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Forbes, Andy Forbes, Mark Forbes, Ronnie Hodge, Brian Puhle, and Jeff Simmons.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the church.

  2. He was special man to my husband and I. We knew Don and Madeline when they lived in MD. She was a sweet lady. I used to call him “Uncle Don“.
    Always think of them as well as Jay, Betty and Tommy Myers as ok be big family. Great memories with all of them.

  3. Prayers for the family of Don. I knew Don from years ago when he lived in Maryland and he was always such a nice and sweetheart of a man. He will be missed.
