Dean2Edna Jane Caracofe Dean, 84, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at her residence.

She was born September 20, 1935 in Bath County, the daughter of the late Weldon Letcher Caracofe and Edith Mae Hise Caracofe Argenbright.

She was a faithful member of Eden United Methodist Church. She was a former babysitter who was loved by so many people. She enjoyed traveling and shopping; and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother.

She was married to the late Norval Gharlington “Doc” Dean who preceded her in death October 30, 2003. She is survived by three children, Richard Dean and wife Rebecca of Burnsville, Paul Dean and wife Julie of Hot Springs, Crystal Robertson and husband Jeff of Hot Springs; a step-son, James Dean of Warm Springs, Virginia; a granddaughter whom she raised as a “daughter” Brittany Dean Webb & Fiancé Derrick Liptrap of Covington, Virginia, grandchildren, Carl Tucker & Fiancé Crystal Brown of Hot Springs, Dalton Paul Knight of Crozet, Virginia, Shannon McCulley & husband Daryl of Burnsville, Virginia, Atley Robertson & Fiancé Bethany Hoover, Austin Taylor Dean, Clinton Robertson, Nathanial Hise and Nathan Cook all of Hot Springs, and Chelsea Cook of Covington; and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Eden United Methodists Church with Pastor Lorrie Aikens and Pastor Wayne Dean officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at church.

  2. I never had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Aunt Edna but always enjoyed the times we did have together, I knew her to be a kind, generous woman who worked hard and took good care of her family. She will be missed,
