Edward John Baldwin, 89, of West Roxbury, Massachusetts died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Highland House in Clifton Forge.

He was born December 21, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Edward Baldwin and Fannie Moore Baldwin.

Edward was formerly employed as a furnace installer for Devaney Energy and was also an automobile mechanic.

He was a veteran of the Navy, having served in WWII.

Edward was a member of Warm Springs Mountain Hunt Club.  He loved to hunt, fish, do photography, and travel with his wife.  They would also host runners in the Boston Marathon at their home every year.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Helen Ruth Thacker Baldwin of Low Moor; daughters: Marilyn Jean Gibson and husband Donald of Warsaw, Indiana, Roberta Gail Fischer of Janelaw, West Virginia; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Josephine Thacker; sister-in-law and special friend: Leona Altizer; special cousin: Alma Murrin and husband Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will be in Jacob Cleek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nephews and the members of the Warm Springs Mountain Hunting Club

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Virginia Chapel Church or Jacob Cleek Cemetery.
