Eleanor Ruth Andrews, 79, of Fort Pierce, Florida died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Port St. Lucie Medical Center, Fort Pierce, Florida.

She was born January 27, 1938 in Covington, Virginia, the daughter of the late Forrest LaRue Andrews and Janet Kathreen Jenkins Andrews.

Mrs. Andrews was previously employed as a registered nurse.

She was a member of Healing Springs Baptist Church, attended Life Line Ministries for a number of years as well as a few other churches throughout her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed her nursing career, gardening, sewing, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was a wonderful cook.

Mrs. Andrews is survived by her children: Eleanor Janet Elguera-Stinnett of Williamsburg, Virginia, Manny E. Elguera and wife Jenny of Jericho, New York, Dr. Elizabeth D. Elguera of Fort Pierce; grandchildren: J. Manny Stinnett and wife Jessica of Jupiter, Florida, Joe Stinnett and wife Sarah of Hot Springs, Virginia, Chelsea Creedon and husband Josh of Deep River, Connecticut, Joshua Elguera of Brooklyn, New York, Jordan Elguera of Jericho, New York, Alex Elguera of Brooklyn, New York; great grandchildren: Kierstin Hooker, Abigale Stinnett, Delylah Stinnett, all of Hot Springs, Virginia; brother: James Andrews and wife Violet of Southport, Florida; and sister: Mary Shifflett Garthright & husband Doug of Chesapeake, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Manuel Piana Elguera, and grandson, Nathaniel Stinnett.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday March 25, 2017 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Zach Royer officiating. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends an hour before the service at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse International.

  1. Mary, Jimmy and families, Bob and I are sorry about Ruth’s passing. We are in Charlottesville keeping our grandchildren while Todd and Tiffany are away so we won’t be able to come to the funeral service. Love and prayers are for each of you. With loving sympathy, Bob and Bonnie
