Elizabeth “Sally” Moore Bratton, 94 of Warm Springs, Virginia, passed away Saturday, March 05, 2011 at her residence.

She was born January 27, 1917 in Spotswood, Virginia, the daughter of the late Tot Archer Moore and Evelyn Earhart Moore.

She was married to Leonard F. “Buck” Bratton, her husband of 68 years whom she married on December 25, 1937. Mr. Bratton preceded her in death on December 20, 2005.

Mrs. Bratton was employed with the Summer Youth Employment Program providing job readiness for students. She later retired from Virginia Employment Commission. She spent most of her life working on the family farm, taking great pride in her work and extending hospitality to visitors.

She was graduate of Spotswood High School. At age 18, she held the title of Miss Augusta County. She was a member of the Warm Springs Presbyterian Church. She loved gardening and growing & arranging flowers. She was a life member of the Hot Springs Garden Club and an honorary member of the Bolar Ruritan Club.

She is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, William Archer “Bill” & Sandy Bratton of Warm Springs, Virginia; two grandchildren, Shawna E. Bratton of Staunton, Virginia, Shelley A. Thomas & husband Jed      of Bolar, Virginia; two great grandchildren, Will & Carly Thomas of Bolar; a special niece, Jo Ann Grooms of Winchester, Virginia; her loving caregivers, Sandi Fiddler, Janie Kelley, Julie Kay and Myrna Davis.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Moore and two nephews, Jim and Tom Moore.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Warm Springs Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Charles Reed officiating. Interment will be in the Warm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Robertson, Gerry Jacques, Ray Carwell, Barrie Wolf, Carl Cleek, Ron Carpenter, Martin Carle, Johnny Gwin and Bill Wagner. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Bolar Ruritan Club. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
