Emanuel Herbert Campbell, Sr., 84, of Goshen, Virginia, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Salem.
He was born on June 29, 1928 in Augusta County, Virginia, the son of the late Levi & Mamie Wade Campbell. He was married to his wife of 57 years, Helen Campbell. He worked at Stanley Furniture where he retired after 36 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and attended Goshen Baptist Church. Emanuel was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to hunt. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Campbell of Goshen; two sons, Jeffrey Campbell, Sr. & wife Glenda, and Emanuel Herbert Campbell, Jr. & wife Sissie, all of Craigsville, Virginia; a daughter, Linda Crawford of Craigsville; a step daughter, Alice Beale & husband Roger of Harrisonburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Karrie Patterson & husband Tony of Craigsville, Jennifer Hansen & husband Troy of Blaine Minnesota, Shannon Crawford, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia, Jeffrey Campbell, Jr. of Craigsville, Amanda Snead & husband Scott of Verona, Virginia, Kimberley Campbell of Craigsville, and Chad Beale of Harrisonburg; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Emanuel was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Randolph; and five brothers, Odell, Floyd, Ellis, Nelson and Ernest Campbell.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Craigsville Community Cemetery with Pastor Scott Reese officiating. Military honors will be rendered by VFW Post 2216.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, Virginia 22939. Online condolences may be submitted at www.mclaughlinandyoung.com. Arrangements are being handled by Craigsville Funeral Home.
