Evelyn M. Folks, 75, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011 at her daughters residence in Iron Gate.
She was born November 10, 1935, in Hot Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late Ira W. Mick and Beatrice S. Mick. She was married to the late John H. Folks, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1997.
Evelyn was a nurse for Dr. Donald S. Myers for many years. She was a member of the Ashwood United Methodist Church; the Business of Professional Women; and the Rebekahs Club. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa “Terry” Folks Linthicum and husband Forrest “Glenn” of Iron Gate; a brother Charles Mick and wife Dolly of Vinton, Virginia; a sister, Juanita Williams and husband Arnie of Rescue, Virginia; two grandchildren, John and Taylor Perry of Iron Gate; three step grandchildren, Grant, Denver and Skyler Linthicum of Eagle Rock, Virginia; and special friends, Cindy Folks and Ashley Robertson of Bacova, Virginia.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Avis “Tom” Mitchell and a brother-in-law, Spanky Mitchell.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Mitch Martin officiating. Interment will be in the Warm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Holley, Steve Criser, Ron Carlson, Keswick Phillips, Sr., Grant Linthicum, Denver Linthicum, Skyler Linthicum and Jeff Perry.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
