Frankie Torrence Broce, 91, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at his residence.
He was born July 17, 1932, in Bacova, Virginia, the son of the late Luther Hale Broce and Bessie May Cline Broce.
Mr. Broce retired from WestVaco where he was a machine operator for the #8 Paper Machine.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War.
He was a 1951 Graduate of Valley High School. Mr. Broce was a Master Woodworker and he loved antiques. He could always be found in his shop at Ashwood Station, where he loved working and meeting new people. He was a loving husband, father, and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lola Juanita Armstrong Broce, whom he married on December 31, 1957; a daughter, Lori Skeens & husband Mike of Hot Springs; a brother, Darrell Broce of Salem, Virginia; a special nephew, Steve Armstrong of Hot Springs, Virginia; special friend, Joe Wood of Millboro, Virginia; and numerous other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Carl Broce, Elsie Forbes, Clarence Broce.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Billy Gram officiating. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice from Harrisonburg; especially Rachel, Jennifer, & Hailey who have become members of our family as they cared for him during the last two months.
