Fred Franklin Shelton, 90, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, April 02, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospice House in Tampa, Florida.

He was born November 4, 1933, in Hot Springs, Virginia, the son of the late Waldo Franklin Shelton and Mae Miller Shelton.

Mr. Shelton retired from the U.S. Government as a HUD Home Appraiser.

He was a member of Shriners and the Masonic Lodge. After retiring from HUD, Fred spent the next seventeen years working at Busch Gardens, as he loved to be around people. His favorite pastime was doing Word Search Puzzles. During the last two decades, he divided his time between Hot Springs and Tampa.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Pereira & husband Jose of Diberville, Mississippi; a sister; Emma Simmons of Hot Springs, Virginia; a granddaughter, Nicole Busino; and a great grandson, Joshua Haney.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Shelton, and a brother, Earl Shelton.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Warm Springs Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Baek officiating.

  1. Fred was a long time member of our church in Odessa Florida – Keystone United Methodist Church. He was well loved and will be missed by many.
