Helen G. Sheaffer Robertson, 76, of Bacova, Virginia died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.
She was born in Reedsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Nelson Griffith and Pauline Rosie Weaver Griffith.
She was employed as a seamstress for Scotties Fashions. She was a homemaker and a farmer. She was a member of the Starr Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening and yard sales.
She is survived by her husband, James “Buck” Robertson of Bacova; 5 children, Deborah L. Walker & husband Michael of Burnham, Pennsylvania, John E. Sheaffer of McVeytown, Pennsylvania, Thomas A. Sheaffer & wife Karen S. of Port Royal, Pennsylvania, Mark W. Sheaffer & wife Tonja of Port Royal, Pennsylvania and Patricia A. Baumgardner & husband Gerald of Lewistown, Pennsylvania; 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Gary Griffith & wife Mary, Nelson Griffith & wife Deborah, and Kenneth Griffith & wife Mary Lou all of McVeytown, Pennsylvania; 2 sisters; Catherine Peck & husband Bill of McVeytown, Pennsylvania and Sue Walters & husband Russell of Palmyra, Pennsylvania; 4 stepchildren, Norman R. Robertson & wife Bobbie of Williston, South Carolina, Lisa R. Bartley of Covington, Virginia, Scott Robertson & wife Diane of Hot Springs, Virginia and Craig Robertson of Bacova, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Sheaffer; and a daughter, Darlene K. Sheaffer.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Byong Ahn officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Pine Glen CMA in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mattawana Cemetery.
