Ida Dean Salyers, 96, of 31 Burger Lane, Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs.

Mrs. Salyers was born, December 21, 1914, in Wise County, Virginia the daughter of the late Grat Dean and Tempie Stapleton Dean. She was the oldest of twelve children and was very devoted to her family.  On December 3, 1930, she married Henderson Ewing Salyers, her husband of 47 years, who preceded her in death on September 25, 1977. Mrs. Salyers was a homemaker and also worked at the Bath Community Hospital. She was a life long member of the Chimney Run Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by a nephew, whom she raised, John A. Dean of Front Royal, Virginia; four brothers, Roy Dean of Warm Springs, Virginia; Carson Dean of Richmond, Virginia; Curtis Dean of Selma, Virginia; and Marvin “Johnny” Dean of Ohio; a sister, Gracie Liptrap of Hot Springs, Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters,

Callie Wilson, Myrtle Cauley, and Beatrice Ryder; three brothers, Troy Dean, Norvel “Doc” Dean, and infant brother, Walter Dean.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Jacob Cleek Cemetery in Warm Springs, with Reverend Bailey Clemmons officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
