Ira Michael Schatz, 69, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at his home.

He was born April 10, 1947 in Rosenthall, Texas, the son of the late Harry Arron Schatz and Sonja Schatz.

Ira was formerly employed as a classical chef.

He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam.

Ira was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.

He is survived by his wife, Jane MacPherson Schatz of Hot Springs, Virginia; step-children: Christopher Ballard of Winter Park, Florida, Sarah Ballard of Panama City, Florida,

Jon Ballard of Longwood, Florida,Ron Ballard of Seaside, Oregon; and 4 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
