Ivan Dale Franklin, 58, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, formerly of Hot Springs, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the UVA Hospital in Charlottesville.
Dale was born in Bath County, Virginia on June 25, 1954 to Junior Franklin and the late Iva Lee Smith Franklin. He was a steward with the Homestead Resort and attended the Rehobeth Church in Millboro. Dale enjoyed playing his guitar and was especially fond of gospel music. He also loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his father, Junior Franklin of Warm Springs, Virginia; a son, Alan Franklin of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Kathy Robertson & husband Wayne of Hot Springs and Leslie Ryder & husband Bruce of Warm Springs; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Betty Harrison and Kenny Roberts.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Franklin; and an infant son, Joshua Lee Franklin.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home in Hot Springs with the Reverend Bill Gram officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
