James R. Woodzell, Jr., 66, of 6230 Jackson River Turnpike, Hot Springs, Virginia died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs.

He was born March 1, 1946 in Monks Corner, South Carolina, the son of the late James R. Woodzell, Sr. and Virginia Mae Green.

He was a veteran of the United States Army retiring as a Sergeant First Class heavy mechanic with 27 years of service.

Mr. Woodzell loved working on small engines and motors and worked as a mechanic for Jack’s Trucking. He enjoyed music and playing the harmonica. He was a loving husband, father and brother.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Eunice C. Woodzell whom he married on December 1, 1996; two children, James Robert Woodzell III & wife Cindy and Yvonne Yvette Ryder & husband Larry of all of Hot Springs, four step children, Brenda Robertson & husband Calvin and Michael Cauley all of Hot Springs, Johnny Kellison & wife Robin of Edinburg, Virginia and Donald Kellison & wife Patty of Buchanan, Virginia; 9 grandchildren and 1 special granddaughter, Deardra Nicole Kellison; 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jack Woodzell & wife Patsy and Kenny Woodzell & wife Tessie all of Hot Springs; two sisters; Nancy “Cookie” Meadows, Ellen “Bootsie” Hodge & husband Billy and Sandy “Grey” Hanson & husband Bill all of Hot Springs; and “Smokey” the dog.

He was preceded in death by brother, Donald “Buck” Woodzell; a sister, Shirley Stinnett; a granddaughter, Breannia Grace Ryder; and a brother-in-law, Dewey “Luke” Meadows.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lennie Stinnett officiating. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at McLaughlin and Young Funeral Home.

With tearful eye’s we watched you as we saw you pass away.Although we loved you deeply, we could not make you stay.Your Golden Heart stopped beating,hard working hands at rest.God broke our heart’s to prove to us,He only take’s the best..
