Jean Coursey Plecker, 74, of Roanoke, VA died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her residence.
She was born March 10, 1942 in Logan, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Leland Eugene Coursey, Sr. and Racheal Baisden Coursey.
She was employed as registered home health nurse at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
She was a 1963 Graduate of C&O Hospital in Clifton Forge. She was a member of the Windy Cove Presbyterian Church. Prior to that she was a member of the Williamsville Presbyterian Church. She was a dedicated mother who supported her children in all of their endeavors. She loved to read, watch television and exercise.
She was married to the late Paul Thomas Plecker, who preceded her in death on March 31, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Missy Hobbs & friend John Schaffer of Roanoke, Virginia, Jill Ryder & friend John Fountaine of Verona, Virginia; grandchildren, Tuesdy, Remy, Walker and Makenzi Ryder, Kayleigh Whittaker and husband Todd, Lindsey and Brianna Hobbs; a great grandchild, Linkin Whittaker; a sister, Sandra Wilfong of Staunton, Virginia; former sons-in-law, Wade Ryder and John Hobbs.
She was preceded in death by her brother, “Bud” Leland Coursey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2015 at Windy Cove Presbyterian Church with Reverend Robert Sherrard officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at a meal provided in the church social hall.
