Jerry Edward Ginger
Jerry Edward Ginger, 70, of 92 Creekside Drive, Hot Springs, Virginia died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.
He was born May 1, 1942 in Bath County, Virginia, the son of the late Joseph E. Ginger and Eva Bonner Ginger.
Mr. Ginger was employed with Mead WestVaco Paper Mill in Covington, Virginia with 48 years of service. He was a member of Chimney Run Church of the Brethren; a board member of the Bath County Recreation Department; a member of the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department; coached many Little League & Babe Ruth teams and enjoyed woodworking. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emma Ginger of Hot Springs; two children, Kristi Fry and husband Greg of Roanoke, Virginia and Mike Ginger & wife Pam of Gainesville, Virginia; 5 grandchildren, Clancy and Logan Fry, Connor, Kiley and Kenzie Ginger; 2 sisters, Polly Rector of Millboro, Virginia and Judith Howdeshell of Greenwood, Indiana.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Chimney Run Church of the Brethren with Pastor Billy Robertson and Reverend Thomas Underwood officiating. Interment will be in George W. Cleek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Robertson, Albert Ailstock, Johnny Ailstock, Terry Smith, George Robertson and Zach Madison.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.

What I remember most about Jerry was his wonderful sense of humor and how very much he loved Emma. He loved to tease her about only fixing peanut butter and jello sandwiches for him. Or, when she wanted to give him a hot meal, he said, she’d toast the bread! Everyone who knows Jerry and Emma knows he got a lot better than that! What a great Christian, friend, neighbor, husband, member of the church…Bless you, Jerry. God comfort and keep you, Emma.

Jerry was one of the best people I had ever met. He coached me in baseball and when I went away to Marine Corps Boot camp, he wrote me faithfully. I will never forget that.
